Fear and Love

Fear and Love
It has been said that your feelings about something can be broken down into two basic aspects: Fear and Love
If you have love, you cannot fear. If you have fear, you cannot love.
Confused? I bet you can think of many instances where you have love and fear all at the same time. You love your child, and yet you fear that something could harm him or her. True, but consider this:
There must first be LOVE
This means that you must first love yourself. When you don't exercise or you don't eat well, you are not loving your body or yourself enough. There are many pages about nutrition and wellness on my naturally holistic website and yet I find that I don't follow my own advice at times.
Example:
I talked with a friend last night who is experiencing a tremendous amount of stress with regard to work. Like many
of us, she is experiencing cut backs, more work for less pay, more responsibility...and tons of fear. There is fear
of the unknown and fear of the known-working longer and harder means more time from my family and less time for myself.
Fear and Love
What if we consider this time as one of those in which we need to flow with the current?
Instead of fighting the current situation, take a look at all the changes you can make. For instance, I transfered
the little bit of credit card debt we have to a no-interest account that I can pay off a bit slower, but still before
the interest kicks in next year.
I made the calls to see if re-financing our mortgage would be beneficial. If not, we can downsize. If the choice is between a smaller home and or worsenning health, well...
What if we put our trust in God (or whatever your belief system) and faith that things always work out for the best? The lessons learned will benefit us in the future far more than they hurt us right now.
This could be just the opporunity you need to stop and think about what you really want to do. If your current job is you life's work and the job is your work-purpose, then stick it out and follow your heart. For instance, my life's work is nursing and this is a job I have. No matter what is going on around me, I give the absolute best care I can give to every patient. That brings me joy-not the 'job.'
What if we take this time of chaos and make it a time of growth?
Nursing is my career choice, but I've always been creative. I love to write. This current situation has given me the courage to take the steps and devote the energy to other dreams I've had for a long time. What a blessing!
Maybe before when I looked at the income (Oh, my gosh-can I really give up that income to pursue something that is
just getting started?) I hesitated to take that leap of faith. Many of us are being pushed into that leap of faith!
Taking that leap may end up being the best step ever taken!
Just a few thoughts about Love and Fear. Love more than you fear. Let the anxiety go, and enjoy the ride.
If your child or someone else that you love is sick, focus on all you can do out of love-no anger, no regret-if only for a few minutes. Pray for that child or job or whatever out of love. Pray for yourself out of love. Life will be more joyful-even in the chaos.
