Good Prayer
Is there such a thing as Good Prayer?
Why, yes, of course there is!
I'm going to give you a little guidance about saying a 'good' prayer, but ultimately a good prayer is one that leaves you filled with God's love-joy, contentment and peace. Ah, sounds so nice, doesn't it?
Okay-so let's talk Structure of a good prayer.
- Some praise or gratitude is key. If you don't stop and recognize God's beauty around you, you can't praise Him.
- Consider keeping a gratitude journal to help open your eyes to the many wonders around you. Begin with 3 things you are grateful for-EVERY day. That is a great start to a prayer.
Example: Heavenly Father, today I noticed beautiful Fall colors and it brought to mind memories of me as a child filled with the excitement of the first day of school. You are generous. Thank you for the beauty in my life. Journaling is a great way to open your heart. Learn all about Journaling for the Spirit.
There are many, many words of praise, but I find that if you begin with your own feelings of gratitude the praise flows naturally and with reverence. Be sure to practice this. A firm grasp on Gratitude and Praise is essential.
I believe God listens no matter what, and I firmly believe that one of our tasks on Earth is to wake up and smell the roses (or whatever beautiful flower you come across). Slow down and savor the moment. |
