How Pray with Beads was Born

My Story
The Story Behind These Prayer Beads and Rosaries

I started writing webpages in 2007. I found that writing brought me peace-especially when I wasn't able to sleep. I also started creating rosaries and prayer beads, which was very prayerful for me. I discovered things about myself and my world that I would not have imagined.

I want to share what I learned, because I know that we all have a lot going on. We all have responsibilities that feel overwhelming, and many women feel like they have kind of lost track of their own lives. I hope my two websites, Naturally Holistic and Pray with Beads and the jewelry and prayer beads I make will bring you as much peace and joy as they have me. That is my prayer for you.

My Story

What kept me up those nights in 2007?

When my son was in Iraq, I sometimes had a difficult time sleeping. I wanted to do something that I knew would make a difference in a situation that I really had very little control over. I prayed, and I meditated. Okay, I also paced, but overall, prayer really helped me to feel more calm. I also read inspiring books, including those about prayer and prayer beads. I developed an interest in rosaries and prayer beads. I decided to get a little creative, and I made my son a silver beaded rosary with purple heart-shaped pater beads. (He earned a purple heart when his humvee was struck by a IED.) Then, I made other special ones for friends and families. And so began the compulsion to create beautiful peices of art inspired by love.
