Just what does it mean to be present? Presence is a NOUN, not a verb. True presence is really a 'state of being'-not so much about WHAT you do. In other words, it is how you are, and how you act-not specifically what you do.

The Power of Presence: Understand Me, Please!

We all basically yearn to be acknowledged-heard-understood... We need and want others to pay attention to us and to at least try and understand us a bit.

We yearn for this in our most complex relationships as well as those simple ones with people we may not know well. Consider this: you stop at the dry cleaners, and the attendant asks you about your children because she remembers a little comment you made a few weeks ago. Doesn't that really impact your day? You bet! How about if your spouse actually stops and looks at you when you tell them about your day?

The power of this kind of presence is silent, but don't fool yourself-there is real power in it.

Prayer is an essential component of Presence.

Have you ever noticed that some of the most intense, meaningful experiences are the ones where you didn't say much, but instead listened?
In truly meaningful experiences, your gave your whole self and didn't multi-task; you didn't think of what you could or wanted to say; you didn't pass judgement. You were simply present.

There is success in Presence. When you give people what they want, your undivided attention-they will be attracted to you. The power passes right through you, and it is this energy that is radiant 'love energy' that is so attractive to others.

This love can fill the room!
