Swarovski® Crystals
Swarovski® Crystal Beads
I've created a variety of spiritually-inspired jewelry with Swarovski crystals. I love the colors, the shine, the reflection and the beauty of these beads. Have you ever wondered what Swarovski Crystal Beads really are, though?
History of Swarovski® Crystal Beads
Daniel Swarovski was an Austrian glass and jewelry cutter who patented an electric cutting machine that lead to the production of lead crystal glass jewelry in 1892.
Swarovski® Crystal Beads-Why are They So Special?
Swarovski® crystal beads contain approximately 32% lead. This maximizes refraction. You can find Swarovski crystals in crystal sculptures and miniatures, jewelry and couture, home decor and chandeliers. You'll often find the swan logo on the larger creations.
Some of the beads are specified as "AB" which represents Aurora Borealis. This is a popular coating because it gives the surface a rainbow oil slick appearance. I love this look, and use them in many of my designs.
Some of my designs include Swarovski® Crystal beads. They may be more expensive, but their look is exceptional. I choose particular colors for my spiritually inspired creations. I choose colors for particular reasons, also.

What's the story with color? It means so much!
Other Glass Beads
Glass beads come in a variety of shapes and colors. Some have many facets which makes them more shiny. There are a variety of glass beads from the clear, the opaque and even those with pressed flowers. I also like to use glass beads in my jewelry, prayer beads and rosaries. These are different than crystal beads because they are not made with lead.
I sometimes use acrylic beads, also. They look like glass beads and can be quite pretty, also. I can create beautiful peices that look expensive, but are more affordable because acrylic beads are usually less expensive. They are often lighter in weight.
