Time to Pray

Do you make time to pray?
Many of us don't, however most, who believe in the power of prayer, would agree that it should be one of the priorities of life like brushing your teeth, eating your veggies and getting enough sleep.

Perhaps we are not satisfied because we don't really set aside a specific time for our prayer life. Do you have a To-Do list? Do you write daily activities on a white board, keep lists on a bulletin board or for the more high tech ones (like me!) keep lists on your fancy phones or PDAs. Even so, there are things that just don't get done because our To-Do lists are longer than our day will allow.

The Bible has many references to Jesus and Prayer. He planned to pray and he also knew when the spontaneous prayers were needed.

If prayer is going to happen in your life, you may need to put it on your To Do list.

  • Make prayer a priority
  • Get up a little earlier (even 5 minutes) to allow for some morning prayer time
  • Work prayer into your break time at work, after dinner or just before bedtime

Where and when you pray isn't as important as making it a routine.

Making time to pray is just one part of leading a spiritual life.

Time to Pray

Okay, so you've made prayer a priority and you've got it on your 'To Do' list.

Now, look for a distraction-free zone. This is the case whether your prayer is alone or in a group.

  • No phones
  • No texts messages
  • No TV
  • No interruptions

You can set aside some time in your home, outside in your car, at work or even on the bus (this would most likely be silent prayer, but it is up to you). Spontaneous prayer can be anywhere, of course.

I've got my beads in my pocket or my purse to remind me where my focus should be. It is instantly calming.

Is prayer with beads new to you? It's actually an ancient practice that can work miracles in today's world. Take a look at www.pray-with-beads.com home page to learn much, much more and even order your own set of beads.

You can even create your own little sacred place. This could be outside in nature or you can create your own space at home. I have a little table with some items that mean something to me. You can add candles, music... This is my little place. You can have fun creating your own!
