Vision Board

What is a Vision Board and Why Should You Care?
A vision board is quite simply a board that you design for yourself. It is YOUR unique board covered with photos, items and whatever you choose. The items on the board are steps of your journey and reminders of where you want to go. It is so difficult sometimes to stay on track when we get tugged in many different directions.
It is your daily reminder of where you want to be. It might also simply plant the seed for you, and even give you hope.
It will help you draw creative energy to your actions. It is YOUR creation, so you'll have to think about what YOU really want or see for yourself. It isn't to be judged by you or anyone else, either. It will be perfect for you because you created it. Let your 'inner critic' take the day off.
My vision board has photos of the ocean. I love the ocean. I experience a supreme sense of peace and joy when I am at the beach or on the ocean. I certainly feel close to God, and although I am so small compared to the ocean, I feel like I'm a part of it. My mother tells a story about me when I was 3 or 4 that goes something like this: 'The first time I took her to the beach she just ran into the water and the waves with absolutely no fear!' I don't have a lot of childhood memories, but I do remember this day. I don't remember the spanking I got for running in there, but I clearly remember seeing the ocean and feeling like I had just come home.
So, needless to say, my vision board has photos of my favorite place in Hawaii, where I used to live. My heart is still there, so I believe I'll return one day. I'm reminded of this daily in such a way that I can enjoy today, although I'm in central Texas. I'm with my husband in some photos as my reminder that I want to strengthen that relationship. The words I put on my board are strong and simple. There are no photos of me working a full time job because I envision myself being financially independent-not necessarily rich with money, but rich in happiness for sure!
How to Make a Vision Board
Begin by using a board of some kind that you can tape, glue or any other way affix photos or other items. If you aren't sure what you want on your board, don't worry. Go through magazines that catch your attention and start cutting out photos that touch you in some way. Don't judge or try to figure out why right now. Just gather. When you are ready, affix those that speak to you the loudest to your board. You might want to add some affirmations such as 'I am ready to ____' 'God loves me' 'I love my life' I am happy;
Post your board where you can see it regularly. Remind yourself about your path. You may end up with several different boards or you can keep adding to yours. Your vision will grow, afterall. The vision board can help you manifest and accept greatness in your life. Perhaps it can be part of an altar that you make for yourself. Create a peace-place for yourself. It doesn't have to be big, but it does have to be special for you. Comfortable pillows or chair, inspirational reading materials, photos, your board, candles...
